What I Bought on Amazon | Tennis Edition
I need to start by saying that I am TERRIBLE at tennis. I did not take lessons as a kid so aside from the baseline gym class instruction, I had no formal tennis training until I went to college. At Elon, I opted into taking tennis as an "add on" course for extra credits simply because it felt like a missed opportunity not to. I bought a tennis skirt and everything.
The Jimmy Powell tennis courts at Elon look like they belong at a country club and I thought it would be a great way to get some exercise! Unfortunately, nothing stuck. I really need another full lesson in the rules, etc. because it all went in one ear and out the other.
Even this past year, when I was lucky enough to go to the US Open (evidence below), I really struggled to follow along. I was lucky to have a friend there who was able to explain to me what was going on. But again, not much stuck! TBH, I felt guilty for how good the seats were because of my lack of understanding!
With all this time to enjoy outdoor exercising, I am on a mission to pick it back up! I still had my racket from Elon but I needed another so that I can play with someone else. I opted for one similar to the same one I had (inexpensive). I also needed to replace the overgrip on the racket I had at Elon - the tape had gotten pretty mangled. YouTube will teach you everything you need to know! Finally, I got some fresh tennis balls - the ones I had scrounged up from the garage weren't cutting it.
Here's to improving and getting some exercise in if nothing else!
